Wakeful is built to need as little about you as possible. This page says what it keeps, why, and how to get rid of it.

There is no account

On first launch Wakeful claims an anonymous session — a random identifier, with no name, email address or password behind it. Skipping the sign-in leaves it that way, and deleting the app takes the identifier with it. Signing in with Apple is optional: it attaches the name and email address Apple hands over to that same session, so a streak can survive a new iPhone. Apple offers to hide your real address, and Wakeful works the same either way.

What is stored

Your alarms (time, weekdays, mission type), one row per morning saying whether the mission was solved and at what time, and the resulting streak. The first name you type during setup and the answers you pick there, so the app can address you and shape your plan. Plus the app language and the country your device reports, so the app can speak your language. That is the complete list.

Photos the missions ask for

Some missions end with a photo — you brushing your teeth, the sky, your made bed. The picture is sent to our server and on to OpenAI, which answers one question about it: does this show what the mission asked for. It is read once and dropped. Nothing stores it — not us, not a bucket, and it is never shown to anyone. If there is no connection, the same check runs on the iPhone itself and the photo never leaves it.

Purchases

Payment runs through Apple and through Superwall, our paywall provider. Wakeful never sees a card number. It stores only whether a subscription is active and when it expires, matched to the anonymous identifier above.

Analytics

Wakeful records which steps of the setup flow were reached, so that a place where people give up can be found and fixed. These events carry no content of their own beyond the step name and the anonymous identifier. There is no advertising network and no tracking across other apps.

Deleting your data

Settings has a Delete account row. It removes the session and everything attached to it — alarms, mornings, streak — for good, and there is no backup to restore it from. Deleting the app alone leaves the rows on the server without a way to reach them.
